Settings and reupdated the computer and had to redownload and install win 10 atleast 5 times in the past year. Each time I sent it to acer to get it fixed when I got the computer back it said I had windows 10 Home edition, but when I first downloaded win 10 Blizzard wasnt the only company to request the ability to use DirectX 12 in games still being played on Windows 7. it is at directx 11.2 (I ran dxdiag /all) but the thing is that my computer has had problems and ive had to do several recoverys back to win 8.1 factory Until today, only WoW players using Windows 10 could benefit from the latest version of DirectX, which allows players access to features like multi-threading and improved framerate.

I updated from win 8.1 to windows 10 last year on july 29 and my directx didn't update to directx 12. DX12 is fully compatible with graphics cards supported by DX11. For now, the way it works is games include the DLLs needed to enabled DX12 on Windows 7. Data privacy and Microsoft's terrible Windows Update policy regarding that OS are just a couple of factors. Eventually though I may attempt updating my current 7 install to that. I'm really only still on 7 currently because I have tons of apps I installed over the years that I'm just too lazy to reinstall + there's a few things that will probably not work in 8 that I may still want to use. You can install some third party tools to make the GUI (like the start menu) look more like 7's. (Windows update on 8.1 is more like 7's). (Age of Empires Definitive Edition is one example of a game that will run in Windows 8.1 but not Windows 7).Ĩ.1 is closer to Win10 but without the terrible Windows Update BS that Win10 has. just curious if it is a game specific solution or a system wide one. Note To upgrade DirectX further, you will need to upgrade your operating system. I suggest you at least upgrade to 8.1 even if it turns out if your game(s) still wont' work.
